What makes Jennifer Boyer a great Coach? Simple. She is dedicated to developing, training and mentoring young people to become quality individuals. Jennifer strongly believes that sport can be used as a conduit to make significant improvements in the lives of young people. She also believes strongly in the promotion and expansion of athletics and sport among young female students. Jennifer is a high school physical and health education teacher at Mississauga Secondary School in Mississauga Ontario. Here is a list of programs she has started for female athletes at the school. Field Lacrosse Field Hockey Ice Hockey She also coaches Curling, Flag Football, Ultimate, Running Club and is a staff sponsor for the school Athletic Council. Through these teams she has had the opportunity to influence the lives of hundreds of young women, many of whom are becoming involved in a sport or team for the first time. Jennifer has experienced great success on the field winning numerous tournaments and championships but I’m sure she would tell you her greatest success comes off the field. She teaches her athletes that dedication, team work, commitment, and hard work are the cornerstones to success in any area of life. Skill and technique development are a priority however a losing season can also be a great success if the lives of her athletes are improved by the values she teaches. She teaches her young female athletes that a strong mind and a strong body are a necessity both on and off the field. Many of her athletes are becoming involved in sport for the very first time. By creating programs such as Field Hockey, Field Lacrosse and Ice Hockey she is able to offer students an opportunity to be part of a team. Many of her athletes have shown great improvement in self confidence, team work, communication and academics as a result in their new found love of sport. Jennifer is a role model for many young female athletes. She demonstrates the values she teaches in her daily life. This year one of her athletes dressed up as “Coach Boyer” for Halloween. What greater compliment could a coach receive then to know she has made a positive impact on the lives of her athletes?
