Peter Brown

I believe that Coach Brown should be the chunky MVC because of his love for coaching and football, and most importantly the players. He gave a new meaning to the word commitment for as long as he was physically able he would be on the field no matter what. Two years ago he had pulled his calf muscle and he could barely walk but he still did not miss practice. That kind of commitment couldn’t help but rub off onto the players. This year he needed an I.V because he got a bad infection on his hand but once again he came out to practice and did not let it hold him back. It was the love of the sport that kept him going. Coaching the team definitely wasn’t easy for him, over the past few years he coached by himself, while other teams would have would have up to three coaches. Before games he would tape all the players, manage equipment and handle all the paperwork all by himself. Only recently did we get another coach to help out with the offence. He would also go out of his way to ensure that students could play. This included driving students home or to work after practice was over. A lot of these students wouldn’t be able to play or keep their job if it weren’t for the rides and that’s what made Brown better than any other coach I have ever known. He always put the players first. He was constantly recruiting new players and was always willing to work with athletes regardless of skill level or talent. His favorite saying was “We are not here to just be better football players. We are here to learn responsibilities, and learn how to transfer the skills we learn on the field and apply them in everyday life”. Brow started the team to bring people together, people who had a common interest of playing football. We all left not only as better football players but also as better people.
